DAVE DAVIES
'Transformation'
Release date: September 5th, 2005
Angel Air (2005)
www.angelair.co.uk
Original Kinks member Dave Davies played this live gig back in May 2003 as a fundraiser for a human rights charity. This live show draws on Kinks classics and solo hits with a few surprises. There are two pieces, 'Transformation' parts one & two that are meant for meditation, something Dave Davies enthuse about in his linear notes. Highlights? Well the obvious Kinks classics like 'Dead End Street' (you can see where Blur and their Britpop chums got their ides from) and 'You Really Got Me'. Interesting blues workout called funnily enough 'The Blues', whilst flowers in the rain see Davies vocal take centre stage with a heartfelt vocal.
He maybe the less well known of the two brothers but Dave Davies has undeniable talent and this live show just proves it.
